What DIY Credit is
DIY Credit (diycredit.com) is a free, do-it-yourself credit tool. It brings your TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax reports into one workspace, lets you choose the items you believe are inaccurate, incomplete, or not yours, and builds a dispute letter for each bureau. You review, sign, and mail every letter yourself, and DIY Credit keeps a record of what you sent and shows what changed on your next report.
What it costs
DIY Credit itself is free, with no paid tier and no limit on letters. Your credit reports come in through SmartCredit®, a separate membership from ConsumerDirect: $1 for 7 days, then $34.95 a month, billed by them and cancelled with them. If you already have SmartCredit®, you can link it at no extra cost. See pricing.
What it isn't
- DIY Credit is not a credit repair company and does not contact the bureaus or your creditors for you.
- It is not a law firm and does not give legal or financial advice.
- It does not promise that any item will be removed or that any score will rise. Accurate, current information generally stays on a report.
- You have the right to dispute inaccurate information yourself, for free, directly with each bureau, and to get free reports at AnnualCreditReport.com. DIY Credit is a convenience, not a requirement.
